‘The Rita Case Women Build’ Kicks Off At ‘A Rick Case Habitat Community’

Business leader and philanthropist Rita Case challenged other extra-ordinary South Florida women to meet a dire need in our community – and those leaders rose to the occasion. During the recent groundbreaking ceremony at “The Rita Case Women Build,” this powerhouse group commit-ted to sponsor eight new homes at “A Rick Case Habitat Comm-unity” in Pompano Beach, bringing the total number of completed homes in the community to 66. The community will ultimately number 76 homes. The women, from all walks of life, are united in their commitment to provide decent, safe, and affordable housing to the underserved in the area.  “Providing an opportunity for home ownership to deserving and desiring families is a mission all my girlfriends wanted to support,” said Rita Case. Since its launch in 2002, Habitat Broward’s “Women Build” program has engaged, equipped, and empowered more than 1,000 women to fund and build 52 homes throughout Broward County. Women Build is a global movement that seeks to empower women to support women and families in need of affordable housing. The need is great in Broward, the nation’s most cost prohibitive community for affordable workforce housing. Habitat for Humanity of Broward’s CEO and Execu-tive Director, Nancy Robin said that by coming together to sponsor and build these homes, the Women Build leaders were standing up for the Broward residents who cannot afford to own a home. “The Rita Case Women Build enables women in our comm-unity to inspire and recruit other women to help build and advocate for simple, affordable housing,” said Robin. “These women and organizations have sponsored and will help build homes along with men who honor the special women in their lives.”  Sponsors of the “Rita Case Women Build” include Rick Case Automotive, J.R. DUNN Jewelers, CITY Furniture, Sunbeam WSVN Channel 7, Michelle Murphy, Sharon Gusafson-Florescue, Marcy Falcone and the Huizenga Family Foundation. Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity of Broward brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat Broward offers a “hand up” not a “hand out” to families who are unable to qualify for conventional home financing but are willing to work hard to improve their family’s lives and achieve the economic empowerment of homeownership.
