The 2025 season is behind us, the Marlins ended the struggle with a winning percentage a couple of games below .500, and the team ranked 3rd in the National League East. Not a great result but also not as bad as it seems at first glance.
The season began with a bang, especially for a team not expected to fare well, but it gave the fans something to cheer about and to look forward to through the season. The credible start was followed by the inevitable slump that lasted longer than our patience.
The balance of the season exposed the fan base to a group of players who enjoyed the game and gave hope for improved performances for several years to come. Every day highlighted a different player whose skills could be admired and counted on for improved standings in the future.
The inevitable season-ending slump made the season appear less of a success than it actually was, but the serious fans recognized that there was material on the roster that could drive improvement for the future.
The bottom line is that the players, coaches and management are to be applauded and congratulated for a professional yet fun approach to the game that should bode well for the future success of this team. We should all feel much more confident entering the next season than we dared to express for the season just behind us.
South Florida should be proud of these Marlins.
