The Dolphins Are Showing Significant Improvement
by Larry Turner

Viewing the past few games as a whole provides some interesting tendencies on the part of the current Dolphin team.

First and foremost, Tua has been playing quarterback at an elevated level and has achieved one of the highest passing percentage rates in recent memory.

Surprisingly, to me at least, the offensive line has provided greater protection for Tua than in earlier games, even though its performance in the running game has not been as efficient, with runners having to shed multiple tackles to get into the secondary.

The defense has not been as effective as previously, especially the secondary which has allowed far too many completions, both in the short range as well as on deep tosses. On the bright side, the defensive line continues to harass the opposing quarterbacks almost at will, giving the secondary time to react to plays before a completion is made.

On a negative off-the-field note, the announcers, and to a lesser extent the camera crews, are driving viewers crazy. They attempt to dominate the coverage which, at times, causes the cameramen to cover the announcers or a sideline reporter while play on the field continues. Rather than improving over the years, the sports media has become amateurish in its presentations, thereby diluting the enjoyment of the game or event itself. This has to be corrected as does the penchant for the referees to make incorrect calls, particularly on decisive plays late in games. This too must be taken seriously so fans don’t feel that their teams have had games stolen from them.
