Time And Reality Have Caught Up To Us

I have lived many years and my reactions to politics, local and international, have ranged from believing all South American politicians are corrupt, to realizing that the same is true for many politicians in South Florida, to my present mind-set which is that not only are many politicians corrupt but so are people in power no matter what their power has to do with anything.

I won’t bore you with world history but just think of how many people in “power” exist in the United States, China, Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Venezuela, Cuba and Mexico, to name but a few. Each such person is susceptible to being “bought” to promote or oppose some political issue the result of which can make billionaires of its most ardent supporters. But, in addition to supposedly smart followers, there are thousands who take positions they either don’t understand or don’t care to learn enough about to understand. Let’s consider some reasons people take up the mantle for certain causes:

They are simply ignorant and, therefore, open to manipulation.

They fail to realize the impact their actions may have on the future of an issue.
•
They realize the impact and want to gain something by adopting that position.
•
They are simply following orders of a supervisor who expects to receive a financial gain by supporting the issue.
•
Some politicians or administrators use political statements as a way to gain the attention of the press.
•
The reason for attracting the press is to build a raft of supporters whose existence makes them capable of raising funds for various projects.
•

The bottom line is money or other things of value! Many politicians and others in positions that carry a certain amount of power will do or support many people and positions simply to feather their own nests because they have no other ability to corral a significant cache for themselves. So, beware if you are unable to personally verify some “fact” before you follow or support it because much of what you read is purely garbage thrown out to attract rats.
