Rebuilding The Marlins Is Off To An Encouraging Start

New Manager Clayton McCullough

During the offseason, the Marlins took a necessary first step in building the team back into being a contender by hiring a new Manager with the background that should support this effort.

The new Manager is Clayton McCullough, 45 years old, who spent several seasons in the Dodger organization as a coach and field coordinator. Prior to that, while with the Blue Jays he was named Northwest League Manager of the year and Florida State League Manager of the Year.

Throughout his career, his niche seems to have been getting close to the players, understanding how the team could make the players better, and filling them with an intense desire to win.

The current Marlins roster contains some proven players and several who have shown spurts of being special, but without any consistency. The minor league system of the team also contains players who, with a little more experience and coaching direction, can contribute to the major league team in the near future.

We certainly hope so and wish McCullough all the best in bringing competitive major league baseball back to South Florida and enticing the fans off the beaches and out of the restaurants to witness the team’s comeback first-hand.
