I would like to thank the publisher of The Light and all of their hard work for making the magazine possible. As a longtime contributor to the magazine, both as a Broward County Commissioner for eight years, and as a State Legislator for the past seven years, I appreciate the content that is provided to our local community. Our District 100 team is appreciative of everyone at The Light team that makes this publication possible. As we prepare for the 2026 Legislative Session, we arrived back in Tallahassee for committee meetings and as we work to represent South Florida’s essential issues for this year.
Affordability is the top issue that I am asked about, from the cost of housing to the cost of property taxes and other costs associated with living in south Florida. I am committed to working with my colleagues to focus on lowering property taxes. Having served in local government, I will thoughtfully consider all of the options that are brought forward through the committee process that will lower the burden of property taxes to our shared constituents. I am also interested to see how we maintain the proper level of services from public safety and life safety to public works infrastructure that we have come to expect in our communities. Working with my colleagues in both the Florida House and Florida Senate, I will continue to fight to make Florida an affordable place to live.

In this past year I was able to bring home nearly ten million dollars in State Appropriations for our local cities and non-profit organizations. It is always a pleasure to work with leaders locally. As the process begins back in Tallahassee, I am looking forward to working on important infrastructure projects that will make us more resilient, such as bridges and road projects that are so critical in many of our waterfront communities. It is also my pleasure to work with local non-profit organizations that make a tremendous impact on our local communities.
As the holiday season approaches, I want to wish you and your family a happy holiday. This season offers a time to reflect on the past year, and also an opportunity to look forward. We have made progress in our state, but I am committed in the next year to moving our state forward even further. I am grateful for your support throughout the years, and I appreciate your feedback and input on the challenges we face.
As always, it is an honor to serve you as your State Representative in Tallahassee.
